Buffet Clarinet week

Clarinetist, teacher and blogger, Cecília Serra holds a Diploma in clarinet with distinction from the University of Music of Vienna and a Superior Degree from the Conservatory of Music of Barcelona.

As an instrumentalist, her musicality and the deep expressiveness she brings to her interpretations have led her to give concerts as a soloist, in chamber ensembles and in orchestra in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Mexico and the USA.

She is a member of the chamber ensembles Clariphonia (basset horn trio) and Mirtos Duo (clarinet and piano) with which she has released her first album on digital platforms under the title “Si mis versos tuvieran alas” (If my verses had wings).

As a pedagogue, Cecília is a professional recognized for her breathing classes for musicians. At the end of 2020 she has published her first book for clarinet “Vocalize! Sound exercises for clarinet”, where she introduces principles of singing to clarinet practice.

Graduated in German Studies at the Rovira y Virgili University of Tarragona (2006) with the Extraordinary Prize at the end of her studies, Cecília teaches in Spanish, Catalan and German.

Cecilia Serra was born in Reus (Tarragona), in a family of musicians. At home she learns music theory, guitar and piano. She began her official studies at the Professional Conservatory of Music of Tarragona. At this stage she won the Extraordinary Elementary Grade Awards for both instruments, as well as the Extraordinary Clarinet Award in the Professional Grade.

She has attended several times as an active student to the courses of the Sommerakademie of the Mozarteum of Salzburg, with the teachers Alfred Prinz and Alois Brandhofer and has received advice in Masterclasses also from figures such as Walther Seyfarth, Wolfgang Meyer, Sabine Meyer and Johannes Peitz, among others. In Spain he has received classes from José V. Herrera, Josep Fuster, and Miguel Espejo.
